Daddy's Surprise 80th Birthday Party!!

We had Daddy a surprise birthday party on September 2. It was really nice. I'm sure he had a really good time. Almost everyone was there, about 35 people including Matt's parents and one of Daddy's brothers. Daddy's cake (that you can see in the picture) has a picture of him when he was 19 years. Quite the handsome fellow if I do say so myself.

Baby Monroe..............I mean, Joshua Peter

Here is a photo of Joshua Peter at one month. This first month has absolutely flown by. He is eating like a pig, and growing like a weed. I'll try to keep the photos coming.

Fort Mulligan Visit

On June 18th we went for a trip to Fort Mulligan [Fort Mulligan is a civil war site like it says in the 1st photo] and they have a trail to walk. On the hill they have a water tower and old time fencing and kiosks and some wildlife. Fort Mulligan is on the hill in Petersburg in WV.

2007 South Branch Watershed Awareness Day

Mom and I had a great canoe trip on June 2, 2007!

This was the second annual South Branch Watershed Awareness Day. A group of about 70 people traveled 12 miles from the Old Fields Bridge near Moorefield down to the mouth of "The Trough". The weather and water level was perfect.

We enjoyed a streamside lunch of pulled pork and pulled chicken and other side dishes as we listened to speakers talk about subjects such as Eagles, Fish Kill, Chesapeake Bay, and the importance of using local foods.

During the day we saw about 10 bald eagles. This included several sitings of mature eagles as well as an ealge swooping down to the stream in front of us to catch a fish, and later, 2 eagles "locked" and fighting straight above our heads. I was busy watching these eagles fight while mom took care of keeping us afloat as we went down a decent rapid. Made for a very exciting day!

Pool Trip

Hi it's John sorry it's been so long since  we've put in a new post .  We went for a trip to the pool today. The bank in town showed 100°. When we got to the pool we had fun I jumped in the 3&4 ft and swam a little bit. We looked at the sky and there was gray clouds so we got out of the water and got in the van. after that we went to Foodland but it didn't rain the clouds went north of us. Look for upcoming posts and events. see you next time!

Big Snow!!!

Woke up this morning and couldn't believe my eyes! About 9 inches of snow fell overnight when I expected it to be rain with a little ice. Made for a fun day, but also had to mix in a little work in shoveling the cars out. We made a snow cave in one of the snow piles.

John and I also found out that we really enjoyed snow shoeing. Rose stayed nice and cozy and watched us from the house. If it wouldn't have been for our neighbor plowing the driveway, we probably would have been snow bound till mid-week.

For some reason I can't get the pictures uploaded. I'll try again later.

Timberline Ski Trip

John and I had a great trip to Timberline Ski Resort on January 20th. This was John's first time skiing, and he got the hang of it pretty quick.

Only downside was that it was extremely cold. John went down Woods Hole a few times, so we decided to head to Salamander...........................not the greatest idea. Just a touch too difficult. The lodge was a welcome site after struggling down this arctic 2 mile run.

Overall, we have some great memories and hope to go back again before the end of the season, but we'll look for slightly warmer temperatures next time.
